ACC Highland Campus Parks is featured on America ByDesign, a series showcasing innovative design projects from across the country.

The feature highlights the transformation of more than 3.5 acres of former roads and parking lots at Austin Community College’s Highland Campus into Fontaine Plaza and St. John Encampment Commons. Located at either end of the campus’s pedestrian green spine, the parks create welcoming spaces for students, visitors, and the surrounding community while preserving heritage trees, incorporating native planting, and using green infrastructure to manage stormwater.

The feature also explores how the parks reflect the history and identity of the site, from spaces designed for gathering, learning, and events to public art and wayfinding elements inspired by ACC’s Riverbat mascot.
