Situated along historic Market Street in downtown San Francisco, where space is at a premium, this urban hotel tower proposes introducing public open space on a roof-level terrace. As part of the city’s POPOS (Privately Owned Public Open Space) program, the roof garden will be open to the public during the day and utilized by the hotel bar in the evenings.

The terrace is informed by the narrow trapezoidal shape of the lot, positioning a perched platform at the corner to take advantage of the stunning views toward the Embarcadero and the Bay beyond. The lower section of the terrace, framed by lush plantings reminiscent of a botanical garden, provides a relaxing space for outdoor dining and drinking.
