Night Garden | Creek Show

AUSTIN, TEXAS

An inhabitable reverie, Night Garden’s surreal atmosphere aimed to shift perceptions of Waller Creek toward wonder and excitement for its future. Viewers were immersed in 80,000 fluorescent survey flags “planted” at creek’s edge and were surrounded by the projected sounds of thriving urban ecology.

Presented by the Waterloo Greenway Conservancy, the annual Creek Show spanned nine nights and included six light-based, site-specific art installations on Waller Creek in the heart of downtown. The community was invited to walk along the usually neglected creek corridor to view the works of art, bringing attention to the need for future revitalization and transformation of Waller Creek into a series of urban parks.
