Kristen Juen grew up exploring the outdoors between the dry, rocky Front Range of Colorado and the wet, mossy forests of the Pacific Northwest. These early experiences sparked a lasting curiosity for how different places hold such unique character, shaping her path as a scientist, land steward, artist, and designer. She learned to value the knowledge gained through time spent on the land and the way art can strengthen one’s relationship with nature, both of which continue to shape her design practice today.

Kristen is drawn to the way ecology and history layer together to give each site a distinct sense of place. Her design process weaves rigorous research, technical detail, and creative intuition to uncover and communicate the stories each site holds. Through her work, she aims to create landscapes that respond to each site's histories and communities, foster stewardship of the land, and connect people to the outdoors.

Kristen holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a 2025 LAF Olmsted Scholar and recipient of the Texas ASLA Merit Award. Outside the studio, she enjoys gardening, exploring Austin's greenbelt, experimenting with cyanotypes, and creating in clay.
