Laura Ormerod
LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT
Laura grew up in an artistic family in Cambridge UK, where drawing and creativity was ingrained in her from an early age. This led her to study art, completing a BA in drawing at the University of Arts in London followed by an MA in Landscape Architecture at Writtle College UK. She then went on to work as a Landscape Architect on multidisciplinary projects at a leading international design firm in London.
Laura is passionate about urban regeneration and is fascinated by how placemaking can shape, enrich, and improve biodiversity in the urban realm as well as the experiences of people who inhabit these spaces. Her specialties include community engagement, sustainability, playground design, parks, planting schemes, community gardens, project management and design of town centres and High Streets. Laura is a chartered member of the landscape Institute in the UK and has acted as a mentor for junior members, developing their skills and training them for the pathway to chartership examination.
Laura is a true plant lover, spending the majority of her spare time gardening, growing vegetables, experimenting with plant combinations or propagating her collection of rare tropical house plants. She also has a passion for restoring and renovating heritage properties and is normally found with either a plant, power tool, or paintbrush in her hand. Laura is also a keen runner having successfully completed two marathons!
