Waterloo Park Receives National Recognition from ASLA
Waterloo Park Receives National Recognition from ASLA

We are proud to share that Waterloo Park has received the ASLA 2025 Honor Award in General Design, a milestone for the park, for Waller Creek, and for the Austin community.

Designed by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, with dwg. as local landscape architect, Waterloo Park represents more than a decade of vision, planning, and collaboration. In partnership with Waterloo Greenway Conservancy and a dedicated team, the project has transformed Waller Creek into a true green heart for Austin, restoring ecology, reclaiming civic space, and creating a place where people gather, connect, and celebrate outdoors.

At dwg., we are honored to have contributed to this landmark public space. Our role has been rooted in a deep understanding of Austin, with a focus on elevating native ecology, expanding access, and supporting an equitable vision for the public realm.

This award not only recognizes design excellence, it highlights the importance of parks in shaping how a city grows and thrives. Today, Waterloo Park is alive with art, culture, education, and everyday use. It stands as an example of what becomes possible when design, ecology, and community work together.

Congratulations to Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, Waterloo Greenway Conservancy, and all partners who helped bring this vision to life.
